Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was when she discovered a keyboard in her loft and being intrigued by its sounds. Jan Oystein Aksnes' parents May Britt Aksnes encouraged her to make music as a means of the sake of personal development, and not to earn money or for to pursue an interest. In order to do so she wrote her first new compositions. She cites renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan for inspiration, as well as an appreciation for the style of Bjork. Her mother had told her the songs she composed might not make her famous rather to help individuals to recognize the importance of their work and influence to our world at large, she began singing them in public. The mother of her child suggested that she perform her songs publicly in order to make people aware of the importance of their work and how they could impact the world. Family members didn't even be aware of this until she turned fourteen. Aurora did not have a set goal. According to her, she loves writing music. For her music, is the most effective method of expressing anything.
